(HealthDay News) -- Poor air quality is a serious issue for people with breathing problems, such as asthma.

When air quality is poor, the National Weather Service suggests:

If you're exercising outdoors, make your routine less strenuous than usual

Take more frequent breaks. And shorten the length of your workout.

Move planned outdoor activities to another day or indoors. If that's not possible, schedule activities in the morning, when air quality generally is better.
